Derbyshire locals are pleading with Chesterfield Borough Council to put the play back into playground after climbing frames were deemed dangerous.
The play area at Badger Recreation Park, in Newbold, is under threat of removal after elements were deemed to be unsafe by officials.
After a notice of removal was spotted by a local, Councillor Katherine Hollingworth contacted officials at Chesterfield Borough Council to protest against the move.
She said: "I am particularly saddened that the Badger Recreation Park will be without a children’s play area this summer.
"A local play area is a wonderful way for parents to introduce young children to playground equipment and encourage them to play outdoors with other children in their community."
Councillor Maureen Davenport has also taken note of the issue.
She said: "Local residents can rest assured that we are doing all we can to sort this situation and stop the play facility from being lost. As soon as we know more we will let you know."
Locals are being urged to unite in to bring back the spirit of playfulness.
A Friends of Badger Park group is to be set up which will be designed to bring people together to save the space for the locals of Newbold.
