Derbyshire Business Help Children With Free Meals This Half-term

In regard to the government not providing funding for children on free school meals some business have taken it on themselves to provide the children with a meal this half team while schools are closed.

Following the recent decision from the government to refuse support for struggling families to help feed their children during school holidays, businesses across Chesterfield are offering free lunches and snacks to children in need. Given the current climate and ongoing pandemic, hospitality is suffering and are yet, still the hero's stepping forward to help our communities.


These following businesses have stepped in and offered their own support.


Please see their pages for more information: Andy's Fish Bar & Bistro Chesterfield (Chesterfield) :- Available to anyone who meets the criteria between the hours of 11:30am - 2:00pm Monday to Friday. Receiving free Sausage, chips & a kids drink. OR Fishcake, chips & a kids drink.


Chesterfield Community Food Hut (Dunston) :-

Providing a take out lunch for Children in selected areas. (Please see their page for further details)

Chesterfield FC Community Trust (Chesters Den, Football Stadium) :-

Alongside Lifehouse Church, CFC Community trust are offering a free sandwich and snack to ALL children in need. Visit Chester's Den between 12pm and 2pm. Available Mon - Fri.

Chesters- Steak Restaurant and Fish and Chip Takeaway (Chesterfield) :- Our normal offer for the kid’s eat free in the restaurant is now back on from 23rd.

Chezzy Flavours (Chesterfield, Town Centre) :-

Offering a free item to any child 16 and under accompanied by an adult. This includes a drink, crisps, cake or biscuits.

Coffee St (Chesterfield, Town Centre) :-

Offering a sandwich, fruit and crisps Monday - Friday for children who receive free school lunches next week. Contact Coffee St or this page to book a time slot for collection between 11am and 1pm.

Community Unity Project (CUP)

Derbyshire Community Hub (Stavely) :- Covering the parish of Stavely, Derbyshire Community Food Hub are offering free meals and food parcels. Collection and Delivery. Message, call or fill out a survey on their page for more information.

Firstop pizza (Dinnington, Sheffield)

GreenBean Coffee Shop & Bistro (Todwick, Sheffield)

Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm Free kids meal with adult meal.


Gussie's Kitchen (St Augustines) :-

Providing free school meals for collection Tuesday between 12 and 2pm and Wednesday between 1pm and 4pm. Please visit their page to fill in a survey to claim.

Hillside Stores Offering a sandwich and a piece of fruit free of charge for your school aged child/children, to help those who need it. Between 11am & 1.30 pm Monday, Wednesday through to Saturday ask for Sharon or Carl.


Miss T's Tea Room (Wingerworth) :- Offering a free pack lunch for children next week who receive free school meals. Please bring proof and phone me in the morning, so I can have them ready for lunchtime


Qoozies (Town Centre) :-

Providing a free toastie, a piece of fruit and a bottle of water for those who receive free school meals.

St Thomas' Centre & Coffee Bar (Chatsworth Road, Brampton) :-

Free packed lunch including a cheese or ham sandwich, piece of fruit and a treat for any children from the Brampton area who are in receipt of free school meals. Visit page for more information.


Teresa Lamberelli’s Italian Caffe and Pasta Bar (Chatsworth Road, Brampton) :-

Kids eat free in the caffe/bar.

Thyme To Eat (Town Centre) :-

Offering a sandwich box with fruit and a drink, or a toastie and a drink for school children. Vegan and Vegetarian!


The Boythorpe Fryer (Boythorpe) :-

Offering a hot meal for any child who receives free school meals during half term. Monday - Friday 12:00 - 13:30.

The County Music Bar (Town Centre, Saltergate) :-

Offering a limited number of free box meals to those struggling for lunchtime takeaway. The County Music Bar are also offering for any parents a free kids meal with any adult purchase in the bar.

The Handsworth Inn (Handsworth Sheffield) :- Offering packed lunches Monday, Wednesday and Friday next week.


The Little Tea Rooms (Wingerworth) :- Offering a free pack lunch for children next week who receive free school meals. Please bring proof and phone me in the morning, so I can have them ready for lunchtime.


The Rhubarb Shed Cafe Thursday(29th) any child (16 or under) can come to our café (accompanied by a parent or guardian) and ask for either: a sandwich, a cupcake, hot chocolate, and they will get this for free. No spend required.

The Steel Cauldron (Broomhill, Sheffield) :-

Between 11:00 and 16:00 to receive a sandwich and a piece of fruit.


Tibshelf Fishbar (Tibshelf, Alfreton) :- Tuesday-Saturday Lunchtimes 11:30 - 14:00 They will provide a children’s sausage and chips Free


Toll Bar Fish & Chips (Stoney Middleton)

Wednesday - Saturday 11:30 - 20:00 providing chips/sausage/fish cake/peas/beans etc.


Woodheads Cafe (Town centre) :-

Hot/Cold meals delivered or collected for children who need them. Message the page for further details.
